I’m from Northwestern Pennsylvania and can easily imagine ice skating outside during winter. Our small town used to have its own seasonal outdoor ice skating rink and I can remember skating around to 70’s disco music while big snow flakes fell.
I would never have thought of ice skating on a beach in California until I stumbled across a small article in Martha Stewart Living about the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego.
This hotel looks like a fantastic place to make holiday memories. The hotel offers a two-story Christmas tree in the lobby, cookie decorating, & roasting jingle s’mores by the beach. Here is a video from the Hotel Del Coronado’s website (https://hoteldel.com/)to get you in the spirit:
Speaking of roasting s’mores on the beach, you can rent your own firepit for 10 and host a private party under the stars. The hotel provides the blankets and beach chairs as well as food choices such as house guacomole & chips, a cheese & charcuterie board, chocolate covered strawberries, and a variety of beers & wines.

If you love boats, you can rent just about any type of vessel at the Coronado Boathouse. They offer speedboats, sailboats, kayaks, and jet skis. You can even learn how to water ski. How about chartering a yacht with a private captain for a romantic sunset sail?
You could take a painting class by the sea …
or just kick back and rent a Del Beach Day Bed, Luxury Lounge, or Cabanette
In 1888, The Del became the first seaside resort on the west coast.
Marilyn Monroe was photographed here …
The Del looks like a great place to have fun at anytime during the year, but particularly during the holidays!
