I took a trip several years ago to Palm Coast, Florida. On my way back to South Carolina, I made an intentional stop in Savannah, Georgia. I was only there for a night but I knew that I wanted to find both Forsyth Park and Bonaventure Cemetery. I stopped at Bonaventure before I checked into my hotel and will write about that in a future post. As soon as I unpacked from my downtown hotel, I got directions from the front desk and found that Forsyth Park was within easy walking distance of the hotel. As a matter of fact, the walk is really picturesque.
Since Savannah is made up of “squares” or parks along each intersection, the area has many places to sit and cool off in the humid climate. The moss hanging off of the trees makes everything seem “moody”, reminding me of the movie “Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil”.
The houses in these downtown Savannah neighborhoods are stately and elegant.
Eventually, I saw Forsyth Fountain in the distance ….
The park has a lot of hanging moss and monuments ….
I highly recommend seeing this beautiful park and fountain if you happen to stop in Savannah!
