This has been an awful Monday. You probably know the feeling.
For me, there are times when everyone seems against me. It is particularly bad when the folks who are against you are your own family. This is why I turn to this blog . It gives me a place to remember where I’ve been and a place to dream about where I can go.
So on this snowy Monday
when my world has been turned upside down, I will think about a place that I have never been.
The Maldives ….
Maldives is composed of 26 ring-shaped atolls which are made up of more than 1,000 coral islands in the Indian Ocean. It is located off the southwest coast of Sri Lanka.
The capital is Malé. It has a busy fish market, shops, and restaurants on the main road called Majeedhee Magu.
When I think of the Maldives, I think of thatched-roof huts overlooking the ocean. I’ve never thought of dining underwater, though.
If you stay at Per Aquum Niyama Resort, you can dine in the above restaurant. You reach it by speedboat. Guests descend below sea level via a dramatic three-tier staircase and dine under capiz shells draped from the ceiling. You literally sit eye-to-eye with the marine life of the Indian Ocean on chairs inspired by anemone that massage guests with rubber fingers. On offer are private Champagne breakfasts and evening Glow Parties, where you can view the illuminated reef.
I think the restaurant has been remodeled since the above video was made, as the decor has greatly changed, but you get the idea.
It sure beats a snowy view on a depressing Monday!!
